Too often we give our children answers to remember rather than problems to solve.

A Little About Me
I am the Gifted Coordinator and Teacher at Liberty Tech.  This is my 3rd year at Liberty Tech, but I taught 5th grade my first two years.  I have previously taught 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades.
This is our first year having a gifted program.  I am enthusiastic to enrich the learning of my students as their facilitator and see the amazing things they accomplish this school year.  Our 5th grade gifted students have worked so hard to start our very first newspaper at Liberty Tech!  It has been amazing to see their excitement and passion to start this newspaper and see where it takes us as a school!

5th Grade Gifted
To read our first issue of the LTCS Maverick Times, click here.
We have been working on Volume 1 of the LTCS Maverick Times.  We will be releasing a new volume of the newspaper every two weeks.  We are also about half way through the novel, The Phantom Tollbooth.  We have been learning about figurative language through the creative words of Norton Juster, the author, of the book.

4th Grade Gifted
We have started an art unit that we will work on all year long.  We have discusses perspective in art and cave art.  The students will be learning about various artists, time periods for art, and will be creating many pieces of artwork.  We are also wrapping up our first novel, Tuck Everlasting.

2nd & 3rd Grade Gifted
We are currently reading Because of Winn-Dixie.  As we are nearing the end of the novel, the students have chosen a specific dog or cat breed that they would like to research.  We have finished up researching and will now be writing our papers.  In the next month, we are expecting a visit from the Fayette County Humane Society.  We will be learning about being responsible pet owners and even see some animals that are available for adoption.  I will notify parents of the date, so you can join us if you are available that day.

We are Mavericks, facing the future with the goal of changing the world.

Mission
The mission of Liberty Tech is to engage students in a rigorous, relevant Classical/STEM based learning environment to foster the acquisition of knowledge, wisdom, and virtue to positively impact the world around them.

Vision
Virtue  +  Knowledge  =  Wisdom
